GLI is an accredited non-governmental organization (NGO) with the United Nations. GLI plays an important role in ensuring that girls participate in the annual session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) by organizing an official delegation of students to attend. GLI is a an active member of the Working Group on Girls (WGG) and co-chairs the WGG Task Force on Girls’ Participation with the Girl Scouts of the USA.
As a GLI delegate, students actively participate in six full days of workshops, panels and presentations in and around the UN. Students speak directly to UN officials on girls’ human rights, and draft position statements for the CSW, outlining their stances and suggestions on universal girls’ education, violence prevention, human rights and related issues.
Participate at the UN!
GLI is organizing a delegation of Chapter members and adults to attend the 58th Commission on the Status of the Women from March 8 – 14, 2014. Check back in early October 2013 for participant requirements and application!
